The twin son was hospitalized for 5 days early this month. It was a scary experience as he rapidly loses consciousness, blue in the face and went into a seizures for like couple of minutes. We immediately rushed him to the hospital and later diagnosed to have infected by certain kind of flu viruses that have known to cause high fluctuations in body temperature, which in turn trigger the seizures. We later learned that children, mostly in the six-month to five-year age range, can develop such febrile seizure, which occur in about 2-4% of children. After 5 days in the hospital, his fever was gone and everything went back to normal. It was certainly a frightening experience for the parents and hope it won't happen again (Doctor said it seldom happen after 5 years old as the brain will be fully developed by then).
Other than the fever incident, everything went well with the Twin, they are typical 2-3 years old that always seem curious and always on the move as they explore more widely. They enjoy school a lot and love being with other children. They can now express themselves through words and sentences and their speech becomes clearer and much easier for us to communicate. They enjoy dress-ups (see the Chinese New year dress in the photo!), ride-on toys, stories, rhymes, and copying us. Sometimes they do fight for toys, but they are now much better to begin sharing toys with each other!
