Danshui (淡水) is a small fishing city located at the northern tip of Taiwan. Surrounded by peace and transquility, this beautiful paradise is often filled with foreign and local travellers, especially couples who came to watch the romantic sunset and stroll along the prominent Lover's Bridge. The Lover's Bridge is another must-see spot of the wharf. It is a white-colored Cable-stayed bridge, derived its name since it was started on February 14, 2003, Valentine's Day. The total length is approximately 196 meters and the walk across takes approximately 3 minutes.
One of the most famous locations in Taiwan, the DanShui Fisherman's Wharf (淡水漁人碼頭) which is well known for its beautiful sunsets, seafood, and its high amount of party boats. Within the past few years, the wharf has gone through a major renovation process, building several new buildings including restaurants, hotels, and shops. We also took the ferry ride to Danshui Old Street (淡水老街). We tried some really good Taiwanese snacks there, including the Lemon Jelly Fig (檸檬愛玉), Iron Egg (鐵蛋), fried fish crackers, etc. Just like all the night markets we went to, this place opened till late night; so we just kept eating all day and all night long. Danshui Old Street is not only a place where you can satisfy your taste buds, but also a charming destination to escape from the busy life of Taipei City.
