Toy Story Land is the first themed area completed in the expansion project at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. It make use of many themed props and characters from the Toy Story movies such as a giant Buzz Lightyear, a giant Rex, an oversized paper plane and a large ball from the first Pixar short, Luxo Jr. The area also features numerous photo opportunities. My son particularly like Buzz lightyear & Woody and he really enjoy the visit. We all tried the Slinky Dog Zigzag Spin which is a Caterpillar-style ride. Essentially Slinky is running in a circle, chasing his tail, while guests are inside the coil. It's a very gentle, relaxing ride and this is the main ride in Toy Story Land that's suitable for young kids.
Overall, I believed the new Toy Story Land is a great addition to Hong Kong Disneyland. Theming is attractive and impressive and the area music is well chosen from Randy Newman's memorable score. Toy Story Land is not exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland, and is actually the second in the world to be built. The first one was built at Walt Disney Studios (Disneyland Paris Resort) and called Toy Story Playland. While it has a different layout and theming, it has the same three attractions as Hong Kong. Toy Story Land will also be built at Shanghai Disneyland. A rumour claims that Toy Story Midway Mania (an interactive dark ride) may be eventually built at this area, making Hong Kong Disneyland the only park in the world to have the complete set of Toy Story attractions. The park already has Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters at Tomorrowland. Toy Story Midway Mania is currently operating at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney California Adventure and Tokyo DisneySea.
